ADOPT Buster!!!

Buster was an owner surrendered dog in Broward County, Florida. The shelter gave him a couple of months, but no one came to adopt him. So Paradise 4 Pets in Orlando, Fl agreed to place him with one of their fosters, Georgia Manley. Georgia is part of the GDX rescue team and has had Buster at her home since May 2013. She has gotten to know Buster quite well these last few months.

This was Broward's post to request a rescue.

Buster gets along with dogs his own size. He DOES NOT like big dogs, so he needs a home with little dogs and no cats! Buster is a cross of chihuahua, terrier and doxie and has cute traits of all three. He has a white face and white stomach, but don't think this is a senior dog! He has a ton of energy. Buster loves a blanket to snuggle and to dig holes just like a doxie! Buster navigates a busy home very well and is enthusiastic about greeting his human. Unlike most dachshunds, Buster is perfectly housetrained and ok with hanging out in his crate. If you want to win Busters heart forever, offer him a blanket and a round bone! He will be sold on you! His curly Q tail is always wagging!! Very happy doggie!

ALWAYS ready to play!

The ideal home for Buster would be active adults with no children. Buster could also happily settle in at a house with a senior couple that wants a fun little buddy to play toss. Buster is UTD on shots, neutered and HW-! If you would like to offer Buster a FUREVER home, please complete an application here:  http://www.paradise4petsrescue.com/adoption.html

#GDXPawty Aug 31 6-12am EDT

Help us celebrate 6 months of saving Dachshunds and support our leap to a full fledged Rescue. We critically need funds to save dachshunds! We need funds for pulling, transport, vetting, and basics like food, blankets & toys.

Our team focuses on emergency cases like Chloe, a dachshund down with IVDD. She was dumped in a high kill shelter after her owner was told only expensive surgery could help her.

THIS IS NOT TRUE! She can be helped with a lot of TLC & currently she is starting acupuncture. We critically need funds for treatments like this, and other serious health concerns for the dachshunds we rescue.

Waiting for Chloe to walk

Chloe's story isn't a new one. She found herself paralyzed from IVDD  (Intervertebral disc disease )
and in a kill shelter on August 3rd, 2013 in rural North Carolina. From the moment GDX heard about her, we called in every favor and moved every mountain we needed to, so that Chloe would come to our rescue and heal. IVDD is NOT a death sentence!

Chloe is being treated conservatively and is in her sixth week of crate rest.  Today, she has her first of six acupuncture treatments. Thankfully, she is a very good patient, but she is definitely craving freedom from crate jail. Chloe can still wag her tail and pushes up regularly to stand, so her prognosis is great to walk again.

Funds have been raised that covered her ER vet visit when the steroids did a number on her stomach. Also, her consultation appointment for acupuncture and urinalysis on August 16th. Ginger of Doxie Tales generously paid for Chloe's first vet visit when she arrived in Florida. West Burb Wieners, a dachshund benevolent fund, is sending $200 directly to the vet to help with acupuncture treatments. This leaves us needing approximately $300 to complete Chloe's care. Chloe will walk again and show the world that IVDD isn't the end of a dachshund's life, just an obstacle that can be overcome!

Please consider donating a few dollars to help with Chloe's acupuncture treatments. http://www.youcaring.com/pet-expenses/chloe-the-ivdd-dachshund/79484

Also, the vet will accept direct payments to them over the phone.

Please check out K9 Back Pack and know what the signs of IVDD are and what to do! The most IMPORTANT thing is immediate crate rest and a trip to the vet. Chloe's story is important on so many levels. She will heal and walk again without surgery. People need to know that there is an alternative to very costly surgery, so more dachshunds aren't abandoned or put to sleep!

                                 Tuesday's Tails

Hey, I'm Oscar!
I'm a feisty little heavyweight that loves people. I love giving kisses and soaking up all the attention.  I get along great with others dogs, but would probably do better with older children. I was found as a stray and used to be really shy but I've come out of my shell now! Can't wait to see you!
